CAFB Gets Special Pilot for a Day
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus Air Force Base and the Children’s Miracle Network make a 12-year-old’s wish come true today.
Kambree Burton was a ‘Pilot for a Day’ at the base.
She had her own T-38 Talon training plane, got to test her skills in a flight simulator, toured the fired department and got an insider’s view at how the training facility operates.
She and her family also left with a number of gifts from the base staff and members from the Columbus Military Affairs Committee attended lunch with her.
In February, the Mize resident became very ill and was admitted to the Blair E. Baston Hospital for Children in Jackson.
Doctors discovered she has multiple missing organs and are still finding other medical issues. However, her prognosis is very good.
And she said today’s ‘Pilot’ experience helped make her forget her medical worries.
