Burglary, Assault Charges Filed
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Columbus man is in jail and being held on $25,000 for allegedly choking a woman until she passed out.
Nicholas Davis, 25, was arrested after sheriff’s deputies say he choked his female companion into unconsciousness. She had to be taken to the emergency room.
Davis is charged with aggravated assault domestic violence.
In an unrelated case, a Columbus man is in jail after breaking into a local business. Gerald Sharp, 20, allegedly cut the fence to get into Dixie Auto Parts and stole four transmissions valued at $3,000. He is charged with burglary of a commercial building.
His bond is set for $7,500.
And finally, a man is jailed after what investigators call a late-night spree in eastern Lowndes County.
Sheriff’s detectives say 24-year-old Dusten Ledford is charged with three car burglaries and two counts of stealing a car from the Old Yorkville Road area on Nov. 10. Detectives say he stole a second car after the first one he took ran out of gas. The keys were left in the vehicles.
One car was recovered near where it was stolen on Virgie Drive and the other was found abandoned in Pickens County, Al.
Ledford was caught after Pickens County deputies responded to a suspicious person call and found him walking. He was in possession of several sets of keys that were identified by the Lowndes County victims as coming from their vehicles.
