TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – Chefs and backyard cooks will be able to showcase their burger making skills, while helping a local non profit.

Mitchell Distributing and the Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association announced the first “Bud and Burgers” competition.

It takes place April first on South Broadway and at lunchtime, the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Mississippi will sell hamburger plates.

Then, a burger competition takes place that evening and will include a professional chef division, along with an open competition for home cooks.

It all benefits the Boys and Girls Club.

“I think it’s going to tap into some other people who are Main Street supporters who may not just come downtown to get a burger during our previous Burger Bash, so we’re excited about inclusiveness also and people who support Main Street Association, combining with people who support Boys and Girls Clubs,” said Zell Long, Chief Professional Officer of the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Mississippi.

The nighttime event will also include live music.

Teams have until March 23rd to enter the competition.
