Broken Lives Ministry opens new facility

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- A faith-based ministry designed for drug and alcohol rehabilitation celebrates a new beginning.

On Saturday, Broken Lives Ministry held a grand opening for a newly located facility in Nettleton.

Back in 2014, Shane Scribner started the ministry in Tupelo.

After five years of operation, Scribner says he’s glad Broken Lives Ministry has achieved such a momentous step.

” It’s just a blessing because we started out with three men and here we are, we are housing 75 men. We’ve moved from this older building to this newer building,” said Scribner.

Broken Lives Ministry has seen over 3,000 men participate in the program.

Pastor Gary Dawson says the goal of the ministry is to introduce the gospel and help combat a war on drugs.

” We just talk about Jesus and how God delivered us, you know, by faith and Jesus and his blood,” said Dawson.

Dawson says the purpose of the rehabilitation program is to re-direct into a proactive direction.

” It’s a six month program and you go to work after 30 days. There are certain assignments you do, once you do those you get to go to work and get here to stay here,” said Dawson.

Even though he’s seen numerous faces over the years, Dawson continuously reaches out to the lives he’s touched.

” I’ve got in my phone probably 100 men that I talk to routinely that’s been connect, reconnected with their wife, or their children, or their mother. They’re working, they got jobs, their going to church, a-lot of them come back here to go to church,” said Dawson.

Dawson says no matter what walk of life people are from, he’s grateful to impact lives.

” It’s really neat how God has pulled a-lot of people, different domination even. We fellowship around the blood of Jesus,” said Dawson.

Broken Lives Ministry is in the process of opening another facility. There will be around 24 spots available.
