BREAKING: Tupelo High is Board Approval Away from Blue Football Field
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — History could be made at Tupelo Schools’ monthly board meeting in April.
According to Tupelo Athletics, their bid for a blue football field is in the final stages and will be presented to the Tupelo School Board for approval at their monthly meeting in the middle of April. The expected date of the board meeting is April 15th.
If the school board approves the bid for the blue field, renovation of Golden Wave Stadium will begin the first week of May in preparation for the football team’s first home game of the season on August 29th against Center Hill.
The ‘#FLOODZONE’ would become one of the few blue high school football fields in the nation. Plans for the blue field began back in November when Tupelo was approved by Boise State University for a blue field as the school holds a trademark on any non-green playing field surface.
The news on the final stages of the blue field at Tupelo comes on the heels of a recent denial by Boise State against a North Carolina high school. That school had raised over $19,000 before BSU denied their approval for the field.
Only two colleges in the nation have a blue football field: the aforementioned Boise State University and the University of New Haven.
