Video: BREAKING NEWS – West Point Bank Robbed

West Point, MS, Monday, July 27, 2015: Just after 2:00pm Monday afternoon officers of the West Point Police Department were dispatched to Renasant Bank at the corner of East Main Street and Eshman Avenue in reference to a robbery. Officers with the police department and the Clay County Sheriff’s Department arrived on scene within minutes but the perpetrator has already left the scene.
A bank teller reported to investigators that a young black male approximately 6’ tall came into the bank and placed a note on the counter demanding money. The teller did not actually see a weapon. When the teller opened the cash drawer the suspect reached across the counter and started grabbing bills. At least one customer was inside the bank during the holdup.
The robber was described as having a light complexion wearing red shorts and a gray shirt. The suspect also had a multi colored backpack and fled the back out the back door heading north. An undisclosed amount of money was taken.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been notified about the robbery and may be asked to assist with the investigation. Tim Brinkley, West Point Police Chief commented, “The bank staff and a few patrons were visibly shaken but luckily no one was injured during the commission of this crime. The case is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers or the West Point Police Department at 494-1244.
