Breaking- Man Shot By Tupelo Police Identifed

TUPELO, MS ( WCBI) – A man shot by a Tupelo Police officer Saturday night has been identified.  Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green says 37 year old Antwun Shumpert died from his injuries.

As WCBI first told you The incident started around 10 Saturday evening during a traffic stop in the Lee Acres neighborhood . The suspect fled on foot and was located hiding under a home on Harrison Street. That’s when some type of fight ensued and the man was shot. Tupelo Police have not yet released an official statement on what happened.   A Tupelo officer and K-9 were injured in the altercation
