UPDATE – AG Details Reason for Former Mathiston Chief Arrest

MATHISTON (WCBI) –  Former Mathiston Police Chief Shane Box is free on bond after being arrested Friday morning.

Box was taken into custody on 5 charges of embezzlement.  The Attorney Generals office confirmed to WCBI this afternoon that Box is suspected of taking 5 city owned firearms.   Mathiston Aldermen suspended Box last month and accepted his resignation as Police Chief this past Monday.
