The investigation began on February 24. It regarded Chambers having inappropriate contact with students from the school, both in Lowndes County and while out on school functions in Batesville and Oxford.

State law called for a probable cause hearing due to Chambers being a school official, which was held in the Lowndes County Circuit Court with Judge Jim Kitchens presiding. Chambers was absent for that hearing.

Judge Kitchens determined there was enough probable cause to issue warrants for Chambers’ arrest. Those warrants were issued Thursday, April 6.

Chambers is not in custody at this time, but he is expected to turn himself in. Other charges are possible in this case.

Victims’ identities will not be released.

Chambers resigned from the District shortly after the investigation started
