MACON, Miss. (WCBI) – Macon police arrested four people, including two teens, in the shooting death of gas station attendant.
Brothers, Joshua Williams, 17, and Justin Williams, 19 , along with Elizabeth Reed, 19, and Jonathan Shumaker, 24, are charged with capital murder.
They are being held in separate jails without bond.
Investigators say Kris Haywood, 28, was shot multiple times during an armed robbery last week. He later died at a Jackson hospital.
Police are not releasing who shot Haywood, what type of gun was used, or what evidence led them to the Noxubee County suspects.
Investigators say the four people arrested knew Haywood.
“This was truly a heinous crime that took place here in our small town, and it just tore at the very fabric of our community,” said Macon Police Chief Lucious Mason.
The group was taken into custody over the weekend, but officers confirmed their arrests today.
The Williams brothers are from Macon. Reed and Shumaker are from Shuqualak.
Noxubee County Sheriff’s deputies and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation assisted in the arrests.
