Bramlett, Lartigue Earn Academic All-District Honors

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI/Ole Miss Athletics) – The Ole Miss battery of pitcher Brady Bramlett and catcher Henri Lartigue has been named to the Academic All-District Team as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Both baseball Rebels earned the honor for the first time in their respective careers.

Ole Miss was just one-of-two schools with multiple student-athletes on the District 6 team, joining Southeast Missouri State. The 12 student-athletes that made the list will now have a chance to be voted as CoSIDA Academic All-America.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a primary starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director.

Bramlett continues to shine both on and off the field. Earlier this week, he was named one of the M-Club’s Student-Athletes of the Month. As a biological science major, Bramlett holds a 3.43 GPA and will graduate later this summer. On the field, the Bartlett, Tennessee native has had a stellar year as the ace of the Rebels’ rotation. The right hander is 6-2 on the season with a 2.61 ERA and 73 strikeouts. Out his 73 strikeouts, 33 of them have been looking which ranks second in the SEC. Bramlett is also on the watch list for 2016 National Pitcher of the Year, presented by the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Lartigue, a junior, is an accountancy major with a 3.73 GPA. This season, he has taken the reigns as the starting catcher and has turned in a monster season at the plate. The Southaven, Mississippi native is the Rebels’ top hitter at the plate with a .340 batting average, which is the best among catchers in the Southeastern Conference. Moreover, Lartigue is raking during conference play, hitting at a .383 clip. The switch hitter has put together eight games with at least three hits, which paces the Rebel bats. Earlier this week, Lartigue was named to the 2016 Johnny Bench Award Watch List, an honor given to the top catcher in collegiate baseball.

Bramlett, Lartigue and the rest of the Rebels will hit the road to face Georgia in another SEC series this weekend (May 6-8). Bramlett and Lartigue are expected to serve as the Ole Miss battery in Friday night’s series opener, slated for 6 p.m. CT from Foley Field in Athens, Georgia. All three games will be broadcast on SECN+ and can be heard on the Ole Miss IMG Sports Network.
