According to sources, Peterson will not be an on-field coach for the 2016 season but rather a member of the player personnel department at Mississippi State.

Peterson spent one season with the Jaguars, leading Madison Central to a 9-6 record and a trip to the 6A North Half Title game vs. Starkville.

Before taking the job at Madison Central, Peterson was head coach of the Brandon Bulldogs for five seasons. He led Brandon to their lone State Championship appearance in 2012, where the Bulldogs fell to South Panola in the 6A Title game.

Peterson, a Louisville native, led his alma mater Wildcats to back-to-back State Championships in 2007 and 2008.

WCBI will have more on this story as it develops.
