Boy Still Missing In Winston, Damage Update
Louisville, Mississippi (WCBI) – An eight year-old was still missing late Tuesday night in Winston County.
Search crews believe he was with his parents when a powerful tornado hit their home. The couple died and was found during a search near their southeast Louisville home.
The scope of the catastrophe, search for survivors, relief efforts have not allowed for an official number of homes and businesses damaged by the, most likely EF-4, tornado to be released.
The National Weather Service says at least nine tornadoes hit Mississippi on Monday.
The Mississippi National Guard is assisting in the recovery efforts.
A curfew in Winston County was in place at 8 PM Tuesday and continues until 6 AM Wednesday. In the city of Louisville, a curfew was in place from 10 PM Tuesday until 6 AM Wednesday.
Shelters are open and being used at First Baptist and First Methodist Churches.
Donations and volunteer sign-ups are being accepted at the Louisville Civic Center.
