[jwplatform PmecnJJX]BOONEVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — A Booneville Middle School student is the winner of an art contest sponsored by North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice.
Fifth grader Caroline Thompson entered a drawing of a butterfly in an annual contest sponsored by NMMC Hospice.
Each year, NMMC Hospice holds a contest to select a design for t shirts. The shirts are sold as part of a fund raiser.
Thompson says she came up with a design and worked a couple of weeks on her project.
“She told us to draw a butterfly, so when I started sketching it, it sort of turned out perfectly. I drew it with a pencil and we used tissue paper, covered it and cut it out,” Thompson explained.
Sales of the shirts help raise funds for the annual memorial service and butterfly release and also benefit the NMMC Hospice Patient Assistance Fund.
