Bond Denied In Oxford Slayings

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – A 25-year-old Oxford man has been denied bond on two counts of murder in the Nov. 8 deaths of his mother and 12-year-old half-brother.

Regis  Mister appeared Tuesday before Lafayette County Justice Court Judge Mickey Avent in Oxford. In addition to denying bond, Avent ordered the case to be presented to a grand jury.

Mister is charged in the deaths of Carol Lavett Gary and Patrick Earl Gary Jr., who were found shot to death in their south Oxford home Friday morning.

A motive in the shooting has not been released.

Authorities say Mister was returned to the Lafayette County jail.
