LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — The search for the last storm victim of Monday’s deadly tornado outbreak comes to an end.
According to Winston County Coroner Scott Gregory, the body of 7-year old Tyler Tucker was found in a heavily wooded area off of Johnson Ave. just before 3 p.m Thursday afternoon.
He was found just 200 yards away from where his parents’ bodies were located on Monday.
It took more than 160 rescuers, GPS Technology, and a grid search pattern to locate Tucker.
“We do grid searches when we are looking for somebody that is missing like that. That’s been thrown in a tornado or thrown out of their home in a tornado. It is much easier to find them like that,” says Capt. Al Crawford with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.
“It is just unbelievable the amount of debris these guys were having to through to try to locate this child. Thank goodness, at the end of the day, we were able to put our hands on him.”
Crawford adds with a mass search party sifting through the debris and rough terrain, it only took 90 minutes to find Tucker.
