Body Of Fisherman Found, One Still Missing

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The body of one of the two fisherman missing in Monroe County was found about 8:30 AM Thursday.

Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell tells WCBI the body was recovered 10 miles from the boat ramp where the fishermen launched early Tuesday morning.

Coroner Alan Gurley identified the man found as Winford Holmes Jr., 69, of Bartlett, Tennessee.

Harold McCreight, 64, is still missing.

Monroe County deputies received a call from family members around 10 p.m. after they couldn’t make contact with the two men.

Around 1  a.m. Wednesday, search crews found the men’s boat capsized around two miles from their launch site.

Extra help has been called in to aid in the search efforts.

Authorities say the water levels are higher than normal because of recent rainfall rates.
