Body Found in Burning Home

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- A death investigation is underway in Lowndes County.

A woman’s body was found inside a burning home in Columbus.

Lowndes County Coroner, Greg Merchant, says the incident happened Sunday morning on 16th Street.

The fire department suspects it was a grease fire that spread, however, Merchant says he’s not sure if the fire was the cause of death.

The incident is still under investigation.
