Big Creek fire destroys portions of Main Street

CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Big Creek residents were in shock and disbelief as several structures along Main Street burned early Sunday morning.

Sabougla Volunteer Fire Department posted this statement to their Facebook page.

“Our hearts are heavy that we were called to respond to a fire at Paisley’s, but we are extremely grateful for the efforts of every department we responded alongside of. Our gratitude goes out to Calhoun City, Derma, Big Greek, Clear Springs, and Grenada fire departments.”

Several wooden buildings on Main Street in the town of Big Creek burned including Paisley’s Steak House.

Sabougla Fire Chief Jess Moore said the fire started Sunday morning around 2 a.m.

There is no word yet as to what caused the fire.
