‘Best Christmas Pageant Ever’
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – More than 30 North Mississippi kids and teenagers, along with a few adults, are staging a play described as a Christmas story, within the Christmas story.
The Tupelo Community Theatre is presenting “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” That play is based on the book of the same name. It tells the story of a church’s Christmas pageant, when the teacher puts the most unruly children in the production.
Cast and crew have been working for weeks on the play, which actors describe as funny and heartwarming.
“Well, it’s almost a little cliche, but this performance really gives you a new perspective of people who are seen as rough around the edges, kind of looked down upon and this play just puts you in the Christmas spirit, better than a Hallmark movie to me,” said Kate Burleson, who plays “Beth Bradley.”
“It’s been really really fun, I’ve gotten to hang out with a lot of people and they’re all really nice, so , really fun,” said Taylor Brown, who plays “Claude Herdman.”
“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” runs Friday evening, and Saturday afternoon at The Lyric Theatre. For more information, go to tct.ms.
