Barnes Case Takes Different Turn
OXFORD,MS (WCBI) – A new twist in the case of Ole Miss fan Chris Barnes who was videotaped apparently being struck by off duty New Albany Police Officer Brock White while White was working as a free lance security guard for the Ole Miss LSU football game.
The Lafayette County Sheriffs department today released the booking photo that was taken just before seven o clock the night Barnes was involved in the fight in the stands and taken to jail on misdemeanor charges. The booking photo shows Barnes with some abrasions and red markings on his face. The photo provided by Barnes family after he was released from jail shows much more severe wounds to his eye and mouth. The family says he was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with fractures and a concussion. The Lafayette County Sheriffs department provided no other information with the release of the booking photo because the case is still under investigation. The Oxford Eagle newspaper in Oxford is reporting it has talked to a witness that says Barnes was involved in a fight in the holding cell before he was released but did not specify who the fight was with. Barnes was scheduled to be in justice court Tuesday to face the misdemeanor charges but found out that day that Officer White had filed felony assault charges against Barnes. Barnes had said he will plead not guilty to that charge
