Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle Receives “A” Rating
COLUMBUS, Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) – Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle has been awarded an ‘A’ patient safety rating in the spring 2016 Hospital Safety Score by a national patient safety watchdog group.
The latest ‘A’ rating continues Baptist Golden Triangle’s ‘Straight A’ safety rating since the safety rating program was first launched by the Leapfrog Group in 2012
Baptist Golden Triangle was one of 798 hospitals to receive an A, ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States and one of only 153 hospitals in the United States to have achieved a ‘Straight A’ safety rating.
Twelve other hospitals in Mississippi received an A rating, including Baptist hospitals in Oxford and New Albany.
“We hold the safety of our patients as a very high standard. Our patients should feel confident that each of our more than 1,000 employees, our physicians and other clinicians consider their safety as one of our top priorities,’ said Baptist Golden Triangle Administrator Paul Cade.
“Continuing our ‘straight A’ designation shows that we have an excellent history of keeping our patients safe throughout our facility,” Cade said. “That high rating is directly due to the dedication of our staff who work hard every day to keep our patients safe,” he added.
Developed under the guidance of Leapfrog’s Blue Ribbon Expert Panel, the Hospital Safety Score uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,500 U.S. hospitals twice per year.
It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
For the first time, the Hospital Safety Score include five measures of patient-reported experience with the hospital such as communication about medicines, communications with nurses and doctors and the responsiveness of the hospital staff.
Other new measures are two of the most common infections, C.diff and MRSA.
