Baldwyn Man Charged With Murder In Daughter’s Death
LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A 28-year-old Baldwyn man is charged with second degree murder after authorities say he is responsible for a house fire last week that killed his 7-year-old daughter.
David Floyd Junior is behind bars in the Lee County Jail on a $1 Million bond. Sheriff Jim Johnson says last Tuesday morning, emergency crews were called to a house fire on Highway 370 West, near the Brice Cross Roads Battlefield.
Crews found a 26-year-old woman, a one and a year old female and a 2 month old male that were out of the house but had received minor injuries.
First responders found 7-year-old Savannah Floyd in a bedroom. She was taken to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, where she died this morning.
David Floyd Junior has been in jail since last week for a probation violation through MDOC.
The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating and more charges could be filed.
An autopsy will be conducted on Savannah Floyd’s body tomorrow.
