Author Encourages More People To Get Involved With Adoptions
TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – A Tupelo based ministry that helps arrange adoptions inside the United States and internationally is encouraging more people to get involved with their work.
“New Beginnings ” Adoption Services held its annual banquet this evening at the Bancorpsouth Arena.
Awards were handed out to those who have helped increase awareness about adoption through the ministry.
Guest speaker for the evening was Carrie Wilkerson. She is a motivational speaker and CEO, but also has several brothers who were adopted, and she and her husband adopted two children.
Wilkerson says more people of faith need to get involved with adoption.
“And we have got to step up , whether we adopt our self, or whether we help somebody else fund theirs, or whether we go and teach and encourage others or provide support for people that do, we have got to get on board with adoption, there are 425 thousand waiting available kids in the U.S. alone, not counting other countries, not counting birth mothers waiting to give birth,” said Wilkerson.
New Beginnings serves birth mothers and adoptive parents through a variety of programs. They also provide home study reviews for prospective adoptive parents.
