Video: Assault Trial Back for Second Try

[bitsontherun nFFHe6hS]COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — For the second time in a week, a Lowndes County jury must decide between the rights of renters and landlords.

Laura Griffin, 40, is charged with aggravated assault in the December 2009 assault on Dean Loftis at the Columbus duplex Griffin rented from Loftis.

Griffin claims Loftis entered the duplex angry over a message Griffin had left about hot water and appliances not working. Loftis says she went to check on repairs and that Griffin attacked her.

If convicted, Griffin could get as much as 20 years in prison.

The case is expected to go to the jury Wednesday.

The same case ended in a hung jury in Lowndes County Circuit Court last week.
