Arrest Made In New Albany School Threat
NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI)- New Albany Police say a suspect has been arrested after a threat was made against one of the schools.
New Albany School officials say they received a threat against the middle school around 3:15 p.m. Thursday.
The threat was for Friday morning. The school district says it worked closely with the Mississippi Department of Education and local, state and federal law enforcement.
New Albany Police Chief Chris Robertson says with the help of the FBI, Homeland Security, Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and local police, an arrest was made and a suspect is in custody.
Police don’t believe anyone else is involved.
The school district says there doesn’t appear to be any credible threat.
Extra security will be dispersed throughout the district.
New Albany Superintendent Lance Evans says the safety of students and staff is the districts top priority.
The case is still under investigation.
