OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Jackson man is behind bars Saturday, believed to be involved in a deadly shooting in Oktibbeha County.
Investigators say they’ve arrested 42-year-old Immanuel Manning for murder.
Police in Pearl, Mississippi were able to arrest Manning on warrants issued by Oktibbeha County.
Oktibbeha County deputies say they responded to the University Hills trailer park on Highway 182 east around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, and found a man who had been shot.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died. His name has not yet been released.
WCBI spoke to a woman believed to be the girlfriend of the victim, who says she was at home with him when the shooting took place.
“I saw him just laying on the ground,” Natalla Carter said. “I didn’t know what to do and he told me, he told me out of his mouth who shot him. He told me twice and that was all he said. I just kept telling him, ‘Baby breathe, baby breathe, baby breathe.'”
Manning is the only person they’ve arrested, but investigators tell WCBI other arrests are possible.
Manning will be arraigned in Oktibbeha County Justice Court on Monday.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Oktibbeha County sheriff’s department at 662-323-2421.
