Armistad charged with murder, possession of a weapon, and aggravated assault
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – We are learning more about a deadly Columbus shooting after a suspect is indicted by a grand jury.
Kenny Armistad is charged with murder, felon in possession of a weapon, and two counts of aggravated assault.
He’s accused of killing Frank Edwards, wounding a second victim, and shooting at a third person.
In the indictment, prosecutors allege Armistad had an AR Assault Rifle on the day of the shooting.
That deadly incident happened on December 30, 2020, in the front yard of a home on 12th Avenue South.
20-year-old Frank Edwards died at the scene.
A gray or dark-colored Mazda with tinted windows pulled up just before the gunfire.
Investigators believe Edwards was talking to someone in the car when an argument broke out and shots were exchanged.
40-year-old Terry Brooks was also arrested in the case.
No court date has been set for Armistad.
