Video: Amory Man Killed in Morning Wreck

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. – Deputies are investigating a fatal wreck in Monroe County.

The Monroe County Coroner’s Office told WCBI the wreck happened around 9:30 Saturday morning on Greenbriar Road in the Athens community.

Officials say 25-year-old Michael Steinke was driving south on Greenbriar, when he lost control of his Ford pickup truck, and hit a tree.

He died at the scene.

Investigators say Steinke’s passenger was taken to a Tupelo hospital, where he was at last check, in stable condition.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says it’s still unknown if Steinke was under the influence, and they’re still investigating.
