MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A shooting this month that left two men seriously injured in Monroe County takes a new turn.

Johnny Justice, 45, of Amory has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the Jan. 4 incident at a home on Guyton Road in the Bigbee community.

Sheriff Cecil Cantrell says Justice is accused of shooting two people with a 20-gauge shotgun loaded with buck shot. One was shot in the leg and the other in the chin with a pellet penetrating to his spine.

Fortunately, both victims are recovering.

Investigators originally charged John Hand Jr. in the shooting. But Cantrell says investigators likely will ask a Grand Jury not to indict Hand because they now believe he simply fired warning shots in the air to try to run people off his property.
