Alert: Inmate escapes Lowndes County Adult Detention Center

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department is on the hunt for an escaped inmate and they need your help.

At around 8 p.m. last night, two inmates broke out of the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.

One was caught minutes after, while the other inmate got away.

Terry Leshaun Brooks, escaped by cutting through a window, through the ventilation system, and then over and under two fences.

Brooks escaped the Lowndes County detention center once before and was recaptured in St. Louis, Missouri for charges related to a 2020 homicide.

He’s considered dangerous.
