Aldridge Stepping Away From Legislature
TUPELO, Miss. (AP) – Republican state Rep. Brian Aldridge of Tupelo says he’s not running this year for a fourth term in the Mississippi House.
He represents House District 17, located entirely in Lee County. He has served in the House since 2004.
Last December, the Mississippi Supreme Court upheld a ruling that Aldridge pay $218,355 to his aunt, whose estate was plundered by Aldridge’s father.
In 2012, a Lee County judge found Brian Aldridge wasn’t personally liable for the $522,000 that Florence Aldridge lost because of actions by his father, Louis Aldridge.
However, the judge said Brian Aldridge was responsible for what happened with their charity through which Louis Aldridge funneled some the aunt’s money.
