Alcorn County Regional Correctional Facility Approaching New Management

ALCORN COUNTY, Miss. — The Alcorn County Regional Correctional Facility is expecting new management soon.

Jail manager, Irb Benjamin, announced his resignation from management of the facility on Thursday. It was only last December when the Board of Supervisors entered a new contract with Benjamin.

Benjamin acknowledged the security issues and gave the Daily Corinthian an insight of his intentions. Benjamin said with recent break downs in the security, it may be the time for a new approach.

The Corinth Board of Alderman were alerted of the recent “failures in security” when there was a second escape of rape suspect, Garnett Denzell Hughes.

Benjamin plans to serve through the end of November.

The county is planning an immediate search.
