VERNON, AL. (WCBI) – It’s Tax Free weekend in Alabama and that means big savings on everything from school uniforms to school supplies.
The tax exemption is good on clothing and shoes that cost under 100 dollars. Jewelry, handbags, wallets, and backpacks do not qualify for the Sales Tax Holiday. Governor Bentley says the tax-free weekend is about saving families money on the school supplies their children need to start the new school year.
“Any kind of break you can get in this day and time, you wanna take it and it being taxes it makes it all the better,” said Vernon resident Derrick Pinkerton.
The Alabama Sales tax holiday started August 2nd and ends this Sunday, August 4th at midnight.
