Alabama Law Enforcement saw holiday traffic decrease

ALABAMA (WCBI) – More troopers on Alabama roads may be one reason there were fewer deadly accidents during the Thanksgiving travel period.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division saw nearly a 30 percent decrease in overall traffic fatalities from Wednesday through Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.

One pedestrian and a motorcyclist were among the eight people killed. Of the six who were killed while traveling in vehicles equipped with seat belts, three were not wearing them at the time of the crash.

ALEA has hired 118 Troopers this year.

And 52 new troopers graduated in November, making it one of the largest classes in recent history.
