COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)-People in Aberdeen celebrated thanksgiving early tonight.
The city hosted a potluck dinner for the entire community.
The dinner is also a celebration of the town’s 175th birthday.
Everyone was asked to bring their own dish.
Officials say the potluck is the perfect way to promote unity.
“We just asked everybody to come out and come be around everybody and let’s fellowship and just be thankful for what all th at we have,” says Sara Davidson, director of the committee.
Local ministers also came out to share their thoughts on thanksgiving during the meal.
People also brought canned goods for a food drive that will help those less fortunate during the holiday season.
