Aberdeen Hosts 9/11 Remembrance

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – 17 years ago to the day, lives across America changed.

The terror attacks took hundreds of lives and impacted so many on September 11, 2001.

Aberdeen hosts an annual 9/11 Remembrance event to honor those people and to reflect on a dark day in history.

Locals, first responders, and city leaders joined together outside of city hall in remembrance.

One firefighter says remembering this day will always be important, no matter how many years pass.

“Because a lot of people lost their lives that day and we always have to remember who lost their lives and why they did it and us as being professionals, that’s what we do, we wake up every morning to serve and protect our citizens of Aberdeen,” said Aberdeen Fire Dept. Captain Foster Fields.

The city has been putting this event on for over a decade.
