Aberdeen Hosts 21st Annual Razzle Dazzle Basketball Camp

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — A basketball tradition continued in the city of Aberdeen on Tuesday.

Legendary basketball coach Roy Hazzle began his Razzle Dazzle Basketball Camp for kids in the area early in the morning.

The camp began in 1995 with historic basketball stars Clarence Weatherspoon and Dwayne Whitfield.

Kids at the camp learn fundamentals of the game including dribbling, passing, shooting, defensive stance and other footwork and ball drills.

For coach Hazzle, it’s all about having the kids enjoy the game but also he wants to build strong men for the future.

“Reputation is what a person thinks about you but your character is what’s within you,” Hazzle said. “We try to instill in these young men honesty, hard work and discipline. It’s the little things and how to care for one another and appreciate the game of basketball.”

The camp continues Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00am to 12:00pm in Aberdeen.
