ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — The Aberdeen Bulldogs look to get back on track after a 3-9 finish in 2016, which saw another playoff appearance.
“Had kind of a disappointing year last year, had a big graduation the year before,” head coach Eric Spann said.
“We’ve got high expectations this year,” senior wide receiver and cornerback Terrance Rowe said, “We are going to come back from a losing season to a better season.”
In order for the Bulldogs to return to the postseason 2017, the team will have to face a new set of challenges in Region 4-3A.
“We are in a new division, got Choctaw County in. [head coach] Ben Ashley going over there, they’re going to be well coached. They will be a contender,” Spann said, “Then you’ve got Houston. That’s extremely well coached and very athletic.”
“They’re very good teams,” Rowe said.
“We are going to battle. We are going to come out and take the trophy.”
The 3A playoffs have become a second home for the “Deentown Dogs.”
This year’s team will look to lock in the school’s eleventh straight postseason appearance.
“We are going to get back out there, no doubt about it,” senior running back Dajuon Rogers.
“Aberdeen will be the team that everybody will chase down in 3A. It will not be Houston. No Choctaw County. It will be Aberdeen.”
Aberdeen will open its 2017 season at home on August 18th against Bruce.
