Video: Aberdeen, Columbus Vie for ‘Water’ Honor

ABERDEEN/COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — The river literally runs through their heart and soul. And now, it could earn them regional recognition.

Columbus and Aberdeen are among 10 small towns across the South named finalists for the 2013 Life on the Water Best Small Town award. The honor is presented by Huntsville-based Life on the Water magazine.

Both towns are cited for their numerous recreational opportunities on the Tenn-Tom Waterway, their rich antebellum and Victorian histories, and diverse collections of businesses. Online voting continues through June 10 at www.lifeonthewater.com.

The top 5 will be named June 20 and will be featured in the magazine.

Others among the 10 finalists are Ocean Springs, Rogersville, Ala., Buford, Ga., Clarksville, Tenn., Clifton, Tenn., Danbridge, Tenn., Grand Rivers, Ky., and Guntersville, Ala.
