An Abbeville man in the Lafayette County Jail is charged with sexual battery

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- Lafayette County deputies make a sexual assault arrest. 41-year-old Derondrick Smith of Abbeville is charged with sexual battery.

Investigators say deputies were called to an Oxford hospital for a report of an assault on August 20th. As evidence was collected, Smith became a suspect.

No other details were released about the investigation.

The bond for Smith was set at $20,000.
