ABERDEEN, Miss. – (WCBI)Named for a local veteran, but built by an army of volunteers.
Thanks to a $16,000 grant from Home Depot, the children of Aberdeen will soon have a new place to play.
Community volunteers and the Home Depot team started early this morning on the construction of the General Lee Young Park. The work day concluded with a dedication ceremony. Family members of General Young were on hand. Mayor Cecil Belle also presented a key to the city of Aberdeen to Home Depot for helping make all of this possible.
Some of the equipment is in place, but volunteers are encouraged to come back Friday morning to complete the project.
The park is located on Martin Luther King Drive.
