LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-In recent years rural towns are adding clinics to help keep their communities healthy.
A year ago Emily Perkins dreamed of opening her own clinic, and after a long journey it’s finally becoming reality.
“We thought that it would be beneficial to open a clinic on Main street. It’s convenient for walk by customers also we have two pharmacies one across the road and one next door,” says Emily Perkins.
The clinic will provide primary care for the surrounding area. It offers long hours and quick service.
“We are going to offer late hours we’re going to be open during lunch so that people can come in on their lunch breaks. Also we’re going to do all in house lab, but we’re going to send it off so you don’t have to wait in the lab for over an hour. We hope to be a fast pace running acute care clinic,” says Perkins.
“The practitioners that are here are going to be patient oriented family oriented and really going to look forward to taking care of every patient that comes in. Old, young, everybody,” says Bubba Cefalu.
Bubba Cefalu is a pharmacist and the co-owner of the new clinic. He sees a bright future for it and the community.
“My hopes are that it grows rapidly start seeing at least 15 to 20 patients a day and I’m hoping that in the next year or two that we will have to build another,” says Cefalu.
As the faculty and staff get ready to show off their facility to the town, Perkins knows none of this would have been possible without the help of others.
“I feel really good. It looks good and we’ve had a lot of people work very very hard to help us pull this off,” says Perkins.
Nobody has time to be sick in today’s fast-paced world. But if you ever come down with something, it’s nice to know that the staff of Main Street Medical will be standing by. The Clinic opens October first.
The clinic will a open house tonight starting at five.
