Details Emerge In Columbus Firework Fiasco
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – New details emerge in a chemical scare in Columbus that prompted the Tupelo Bomb Squad to show up.
Last night, March 4, around 7:30 crews were called to the 300 Block of 12th Street North.
CPD says a man was attempting to create fireworks in his living room when some of the chemicals of the material ignited, burning his stomach.
The man was treated and later released from the hospital.
Because chemicals were involved, the Tupelo Bomb Squad was called in.
Chief Shelton says the Tupelo agents removed small amount of chemicals used for fireworks.

The chemicals, according to reports, were not hazardous to the public.
The case remains under investigation.
