Mississippi State Hopes to Continue Bolstering NCAA Tournament Resume on Tuesday

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI/MSU Athletics) – With SEC standings and tournament seedings on the line, Mississippi State and No. 16 Tennessee meet Tuesday with a lot to play for in the regular-season finale at Humphrey Coliseum.

Tip against the Volunteers is set for 6 p.m. CT, with the game televised on the SEC Network. Dave Neal and Daymeon Fishback will handle the broadcast, while Neil Price and Richard Williams will have the call on the MSU radio network.

It’s also Senior Night, and MSU will recognize Drew Davis and five managers.

LAST TIME OUT

Mississippi State rallied from 13 down to beat South Carolina in overtime, 72-68. Lamar Peters had a game-high 19 points, while Quinndary Weatherspoon and Tyson Carter each added 13.

Tennessee defeated Ole Miss, 73-65. Admiral Schofield led the Volunteers with 25 points.

Sophomore Lamar Peters was named the SEC player of the week after averaging 17 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6 assists and 2.5 steals in wins against Texas A&M and South Carolina.
The 13-point deficit was the most MSU has overcome in a win this year and the most since rallying from 19 down last year against Tennessee.
The Tennessee game marks the 700th as a head coach for Ben Howland.
The Bulldogs are seeking a school-record 19 wins at Humphrey Coliseum.
Sophomore guard Tyson Carter scored 13 points against the Gamecocks to surpass 500 for his career (504). He’s now scored in double-digits four games in a row.
MSU collected 13 steals against South Carolina, which ties for the most this season (Dayton).

The Bulldogs have held 11 of its 16 SEC foes below their scoring average and 23 of 29 overall.
MSU has shot 50 percent or better from the floor 12 times this year after doing it eight a year ago.
The MSU men and women have combined for nation’s best 51-8 record.
