Search continues for wanted man who fled from highway patrol

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A man wanted on a felony weapons charge is on the run after being spotted in Lowndes County Sunday night.

Chief Deputy Greg Wright said during a stop, a highway patrol trooper saw a vehicle Kristopher Kellum, 37, was thought to traveling in- in the area of Highway 45 and South Perkins road.

When the trooper identified Kellum, he reportedly ran into nearby woods.

The highway patrol and Lowndes County deputies began a search with help from the Clay County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit and U.S. Marshals. Searchers also used drones during the manhunt.

The search for Kellum continues as of Monday morning. If you spot him or have any information on where he might be, call 911.
