Counterfeit Clothing Arrest in Okolona
JACKSON, Miss. – Two Chickasaw County residents have been arrested for a second time in a year after allegedly selling counterfeit clothing from Urban Wear located at 205 Church Street in Okolona, announced Attorney General Jim Hood today.
Willie McMillian, 46, and Sophia Hill, 47, of Okolona, were taken into custody by investigators with the Attorney General’s Office Consumer Protection Division, Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the Okolona Police Department, and the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit following a successful undercover operation by member of the Attorney General’s Knock Out Knock-Offs Task Force at Urban Wear. Tips from the general public lead to the undercover operation that found McMillian and Hill had re-opened their business and started selling counterfeit goods again. Investigators during the undercover operation were able to seize approximately $275,000 in counterfeit clothing from Urban Wear.
McMillian and Hill were booked into the Chickasaw County jail on two counts a piece of sale of counterfeit goods bearing counterfeit labels and/or trademarks. If convicted, McMillian and Hill face not less than one year and up to five years behind bars per each count. As with all cases, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The case is being investigated by Mississippi Attorney General’s Office Investigator Lee McDivitt and Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Andy Harmon and will be prosecuted by Director Patrick Beasley of the Attorney General’s Office Consumer Protection Division.
