DES MOINES, Wash. — A college in Washington State is under lockdown after reports of gunfire on campus, reports CBS affiliate KIRO. Highline College in Des Moines, south of Seattle, sent out a notice around 9 a.m. Friday morning telling students and staff to lock down classrooms and offices.
“This is not a drill,” a post on the school’s Facebook page read. “All buildings need to remain in lockdown. Barricade doors and windows.”
Police were responding and evacuating buildings, the school said.
Students and staff not on campus were told to stay away and others were told to avoid the area.
The Renton Police Department tweeted they were responding to the campus for reports of “shots fired,” but said nothing was confirmed yet. Other local, state and federal agencies including the Washington State Police and the ATF were responding.
This is a developing story.
