West Point Man Found Guilty Of Sexual Battery, Among Other Charges
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Lowndes County jury finds a West Point man guilty of eight crimes.
Autravious Gaston was convicted on two counts each of armed robbery, kidnapping, and sexual battery.
He’s also charged with one count of each of grand larceny and felon in possession of a weapon.
Gaston robbed the Sprint Mart on Military Road in February 2015, then held two store clerks against their will and sexually assaulting them.
After the hold up, Gaston was later found hiding in a bathtub at a West Point apartment complex.
District Attorney Scott Colom commends all the parties that helped bring Gaston to justice.
“We are proud of the victims’s courage to testify against Mr. Gaston for his horrible crime, proud of the Columbus Police Department for their hard work which lead to his arrest and proud of the jury for finding him guilty on all charges,” says Colom.
Sentencing will be Friday morning.
