THS Students Get Ready For A ‘Night To Shine’
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Special needs students at Tupelo High School are ready for a big night, courtesy of the Tim Tebow Foundation.
Students in Kim Boyer’s “Career Pathways” classes spent time helping special needs students get ready for “A Night to Shine.”
That is a nationwide initiative and it allows people with special needs to experience a prom, complete with dancing, food, games and other activities.
The Career Pathways teacher says her students benefit from the outreach.
“It helps my students with leadership and communication skills and just letting them and everybody know, they’re just like us and having a normal conversation with them, without everything being high five all the time, getting to share that opportunity with them,” Boyer said.
“I just want to let me people know, it’s going to be a good night for me,” said THS Student Kevon Page.
The “Night to Shine” events are hosted by local churches. The THS students will attend their “Night to SHine” at New Albany’s Hillcrest Baptist Church.
